Meet the contestants of Mr. Peninsula
Sixteen senior boys will compete in the hopes of winning the coveted Mr. Peninsula sash and crown.
The Mr. Peninsula Pageant will be Friday, Mar. 20 in the PHS auditorium beginning at 7 PM. This event will be a male beauty pageant featuring twenty senior boys from the 2015 graduating class. The pageant is being put on by four senior girls Kaitlin Flanigan, Piper Wysaske, Sophia Alvestad, and Maddie McGill. The tickets are $5 per person whether the individual has an ASB card or not. All proceeds will be going to Charity Water, this charity provides drinking water to underdeveloped countries around the world. This pageant will be hosted by two of the most energetic teachers named John at Peninsula, Jonathan Bill and John Selfors. The three judges, also teachers, do not share a name but do share a love for Peninsula. Those judges are Andrea Kurtz, Tim Knudson, and Byron Miranda. The pageant consists of four rounds. The first of which is the formal round which will introduce the twenty senior boys with their chosen escorts who are also seniors. The second round is beachwear, in this round the boys will sport their beachwear along with their jury cans to represent the cans used for Charity Water. After an intermission the boys will show the audience their talent in the talent round, some boys are doing this round individually and others as pairs. In the final round the boys will be dressed in their PHS Pride gear and will answer pageant questions. This pageant is sure to be a fun night and will raise a ton of money for a great cause, these are the senior boys who will be contestants for the Mr. Peninsula crown.

A: (H) Um, Good Housekeeping. Because it was on Step Brothers. (L) Yeah that works, that works.
Q: If you could bring any possession to a deserted island what would you bring and why?
A: (L) A gun, so I could have food. (H) Yeah an AK 47 for sure.
Q: What is your definition of success?
A: (L) Winning. (H) Lots of money, which we’ll be getting at the end of the talent show.

A: The thing I will miss most about high school is hanging out with the people I grew up with.

A: Probably would change roles of leadership and um change everything so we could become better leaders.

A: Yes.

A: Maybe a little bit bigger you know more muscular.

A: The pitching mound up on the baseball field.

A: Sandlot, because I love baseball.
Funny guy, Andrew Durham, just loves bubbles.

Q: What makes you most uncomfortable?
A: Uh, uh, the most uncomfortable, that’s weird. I’d say somebody whispering in my ear, I hate that, I hate it a lot. Just *whispering noises*.
Q: What is one cause that you fully support?
A: The environmental movement.
Q: Can you describe a prank phone call you have made?
A: Is your refrigerator running? You better go catch it.
Spirited senior, Will foley, is sure to win best dressed in his PHS spirit gear.

A: “Will of Fame”
Q: Do you have any pets at home?
A: I do, I have a black lab.
Q: What is your favorite song?
A: Favorite song is “The Next Episode”, it was just the first one I came to.

Q: What quality do you like most about yourself and why?
A: I like that I can always be there for people I guess. If my friends are down or something I always feel I like can help them out and be there for them. I guess you know just caring for people I guess.
Q: Who or what inspires you?
A: I’m inspired a lot by my music and just different artists. I like the LeCray I like Kendrick Lamar and uh just hip hop and inspiring people, like seeing their struggles through music and I don’t know it’s cool to see that so it’s kind of what inspires me.
Q: Do you have any siblings and can you describe them?
A: I have an older brother he’s at Boise State, he’s uh he’s not as outgoing as me but he’s a really good guy, he’s really caring. Um and then I have a little sister she’s just a typical girl except she hates drama so, just a typical teenage girl and she’s a freshman so.

Q: What is the importance of beauty pageants in todays world?
A: Traditional beauty pageants I’m not a huge fan of, but I feel like the beauty pageant that we’re in is going to be more humorous than it is about actual beauty. I think, they are kind of archaic.
Q: If I looked in the dictionary under your name what words would be used to define you?
A: Intelligent, weird, ginger.
Q: How do you see yourself five years from now?
A: In a laboratory.

A: I think it will be a good experience, kind of you know work with embarrassment, a little bit of fun.
Q: Can you tell me about a recent goal you accomplished?
A: Uh yeah I got a uh scholarship to play football that was a goal and an accomplishment.
Q: What is one thing you do not tolerate?
A: I don’t like snakes.

A: The school spirit, that’s something we don’t have in Germany, like this high school spirit and even here for American high schools, Peninsula is pretty special.

A: Probably a star— Bradley Cooper!
Q: What would you to someone who thought they were not pretty enough to enter a pageant?
A: It doesn’t matter how you look it’s more about how you present yourself. It does not matter, like at all.

A: Well considering that winning is everything… I’m not going to say that I did… but we’ll see.

A: It’d be Johnny boy, he’s been my main man since elementary days.

A: Well I like to be adventurous, I hate not doing anything, and I’m friendly.

A: Well, I would say, um, I would make world peace, make love not war. Quote that from BABEraham Lincoln.
Q: Do you believe that everyone is a winner? Why or why not?
A: Yes, I believe that everyone is a winner. Because everybody is good at their own things. Like if you were to judge a fish’s ability to climb a tree then it would feel like a failure its whole life.
