Peninsula Sports Update

Daniel Shurr, Sports Writer

Monday, January 13th: JV Boy’s Basketball took on the Curtis Vikings, but took a loss on the road, 62-56. It was rough, but it isn’t anything for PHS to dwell on.

Wednesday, January 15th: Varsity Girl’s Basketball Played an intense defensive game against the Gig Harbor Tides. The gym was packed, it felt like the entire population of Purdy showed up for the game which has now been deemed “Swish Bowl” (or Fish Basket, let us know what you think we should call it.) But regardless of the name, the girls just couldn’t find a way to put many points on the board, falling to their rivals 37-33.

Wednesday, January 15th: JV Girl’s Basketball took on Gig Harbor, but couldn’t take the win, falling to Gig Harbor 34-28

Wednesday, January 15th: Varsity Boy’s Basketball had a huge game against The Gig Harbor Tides, who (before the game) were sitting at a 10-2 overall record. The gym was packed, with both schools bringing the hype, the cheers, and of course the intensity. It was a nasty game, as always but Peninsula was up for the fight. The Seahawks wiped the floor with their rivals, defending the PHS home court 59-36. After the win, their next game is away at Shelton, they take on the Highclimbers at 7:00pm

Wednesday, January 15th: JV Boy’s Basketball took the loss against their cross town rivals, the gam was within a few possessions, but it shouldn’t shake the Seahawks as they continue the rest of the season.

Thursday January 16th: Girl’s Bowling visited Timberline, a team they beat at home 3-2 earlier in the year. This time Timberline got their revenge, beating Peninsula (ironically) 3-2.

Friday, January 17th: Girl’s Bowling Hosted the Central Kitsap Cougars, defending their home lanes 3-2 over their in conference rivals. They will play their last in conference game, at Gig Harbor, on Tuesday the 21st at 3:00pm.

Friday, January 17th: All Basketball activities got postponed to a later date. All teams were supposed to play against Shelton,  but the roads were in such bad condition that Shelton High School dismissed all after school activities, it has been confirmed that the Girl’s game will now be held on February 1st at 1pm. No word on the Boy’s game quite yet.
