Winter Sports: Start of the Season Update

Boys Basketball 

The Peninsula Boys basketball team currently is 3-3. On Tuesday, November 29th, they played Bainbridge and won 75-53. They also won against Central Kitsap 65-58 on Wednesday, December 7th. Unfortunately, they lost on Friday, December 9th, against Capital with a score of 73-56. They came back with a win against Yelm on December 14th, and the score for that was 73-63. The boys lost against both North Thurston on the 16th in a very close game of 67-65. They also lost to Sumner on the 21st, 62-38. Well done so far, boys!

 

Girls Basketball 

Our Girls’ basketball team is kicking off the season with some fire! Their overall record is 7-1, starting by beating Spanaway Lake High School 68-40. That weekend, they defeated Bainbridge 50-36. On December 7th, they won against Central Kitsap 63-42, and one day later played Capital and won 57-18. And continuing their streak, they beat Olympia 59-39 and Yelm 64-25. Unfortunately, they lost against North Thurston on Friday, December 16th, 58-50. However, they picked it back up again on Saturday the 17th, playing Port Angeles, and won 50-37. Amazing job, girls! 

 

Boys Wrestling

In dual matches, the boys are 1-1. They won against Capital 38-36 and had pins from Justin Phipps, Aidan Eversull, and Ben Thomas. They lost against Yelm 42-36 and had pins from Justin Phipps, Emmett Casey, and Trace Schumacher. In the tournaments at the Arlington’s A-town Throwdown, Trace Schumacher was the Heavyweight champion! Aidan Eversull took 2nd. Xavier Clark, Aiden Thomsen, Joaquin Antoine, Ben Thomas, and Nehemiah Grandorff all took 3rd. At the Cadet Classic in Yakima at Eisenhower High School, Peninsula finished 3rd out of 20 schools! Emmett Casey and Aiden Thomsen were 2nd, and Aidan Eversull and Joaquin Antoine were 3rd. Trace Schumacher and Caden Wate took 4th, and Boden Clark and Cameron Miller took 5th. 

 

Girls Wrestling

The Girls’ wrestling team started their season at Orting High School’s ‘Tiaras and Takedowns’ where Bailey Parker finished 2nd, and Georgina Johnson, Kylie Michalke, and Lindsay Shipp all took 4th. Then again, at the Hammerhead Invitational at the Kitsap Pavilion, Kylie Machelkie took 1st, Lindsay Shipp 2nd, Bailey Parker was co-3rd, and Campbell Stegeman was 6th.
