14 Movies to look forward to in 2014

The year of 2014 will be full of many books to movies, romantic comedies, big productions, remakes, sequels, fairy tale twisters, and sci-fi movies.


1. That Awkward Moment

  Description: Three best friends make a pact to stay out of a relationship after one of them is dumped by his girlfriend. Then suddenly each find themselves in that awkward moment in a relationship when you need to make a decision.






2. The Monuments Men

Premiere Date: February 7, 2014

Director: George Clooney

Main Cast Members: George Clooney, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Bill Murray, and John Goodman.

Description: Based on the novel written by Robert M. Edsel. An unlikely World War II platoon race against time to protect world art and monuments before the Nazi’s destroy them.






3. Vampire Academy

Premiere Date: February 14, 2014

 Director: Mark Waters

 Main Cast Members: Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Danila Kozlovsky, Gabriel Byrne, and Sarah Hyland.

 Description: Rose Hathaway’s (Zoey Deutch) world consists of the Dhampir’s, half human half vampires, the Moroi, peaceful mortal vampires and the Strigoi, immortal and bloodthirsty vampires. Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir who must protect the mortal vampires from the immortal. Based on the book series by Richelle Mead.





4. Noah

Main Cast Members: Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, and Logan Lerman.

Description: The Biblical Noah (Russell Crowe) has nightmares of the world after the apocalypse resulting from a flood. To escape this fate Noah builds an ark to save his family. 





5. Divergent

Main Cast Members: Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort and Maggie Q.

Description: Beatrice Prior (Shailene Woodley) lives in a dystopian Chicago where citizens are divided into five factions. When she discovers she cannot fit into one category her life becomes threatened, as a leader of the city seeks to exterminate her kind. Based on the best selling novel by Veronica Roth.





6. Godzilla

Premiere Date: May 16, 2014

Directors: Gareth Edwards and Keith Melton

Cast: Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, and David Strathairn.

Description: A giant radioactive monster known as Godzilla once again appears to seek the downfall of mankind in this remake.





7. X-Men: Days of Future Past

Premiere Date: May 23, 2014

Director: Bryan Singer

Main Cast Members: Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender,  Hugh Jackman,  Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, and Nicholas Hoult.

Description: The X-Men send Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to the past to stop an event that brings destruction to mutants and humans alike.





8. Maleficent

Premiere Date: May 30, 2013

Director: Robert Stromberg

Main Cast Members: Angelina Jolie, Ellie Fanning, Sharlto Copley, and Juno Temple.

Description: The old princess story “Sleeping Beauty” is told from Maleficent (Angelina Jolie) the queen’s point of view. Much like in “Wicked,” the Evil Witch explains her hatred toward Dorothy, Maleficent explains her hatred for Aurora (Ellie Fanning).

Description: Jupiter (Mila Kunis), is targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe when it is learned that Jupiter’s existence threatens the Queen’s reign. The Queen is almost successful until Caine (Channing Tatum) is sent to Earth to save her from certain death.





12. Interstellar

Description: A passage through space which changes the time and distance required for space travel is discovered by a group of explorers.





13. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I

Main Cast Members: Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Sam Claflin, Liam Hemsworth, Natalie Dormer, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Julianne Moore.

Description: Shortly after the 75th Hunger Games, Katniss(Jennifer Lawrence) becomes a symbol of the growing rebellion among the thirteen districts. Peeta(Josh Hutcherson) is still locked within the Capitol, and Katniss’s home is reduced to ash.




14. The Hobbit: There and Back Again
