Sports Updates

Seth Walloch, Sports Editor

This is a giant update to all the sports that made it to playoffs and what they have to do to make it to state. A total of three Peninsula sports teams have made it into the playoffs this postseason: Football, Girls Soccer, and the Girls Cross Country team (Riley Wynn, also going to XC state, qualified individually).

Saturday, November 5th, our Cross Country state competitors will run in Pasco. To get to state, our girls team finished first in the SSC league; finishing with six in the top 35 runners of the 3A race. They will run at 12:30 pm this Saturday. Riley Wynn, representing the boys XC team, placed 14th in Leagues, earning him an individual spot in the state meet. Wynn will be running at 2:00 pm.

Our Girls Soccer Team made it to playoffs. Thursday night they beat a strong Lakes soccer team, three goals to one. They will now be playing against Bonney Lake Saturday November 5th. If they can win, they will move onto the state tournament.

Our football team is currently six and one. They have beaten every team in the league except Timberline. Friday November 4th, they play Stadium High School; if they win, they’ll play either Auburn Mountainview or Bishop Blanchet next.

Overall, Cross Country, Girls Soccer, and Football have made big things happens this season. We are all very proud of them. Good luck this weekend, Seahawks!
