How to Get Involved: Clubs and Extracurriculars Edition

Caitlyn Anderson

Other than sports and physical activities, Peninsula has many clubs you can join and extracurricular activities to participate in.

A few options include Key Club, Environmental Club, Speech and Debate Club, Art Club, DECA, Drama/Theatre Club,  HOSA, Magic the Gathering Club, Games Club, Skills USA, The Phoenix, Knowledge Bowl, Band Council, and Community Inclusion Program Youth Leadership (CIP)

Each club is designed to explore different skills and get involved in the community of our high school. Art Club is a place where students can go and create art and work on one’s own personal projects. Art Club meets on Thursdays from 2-4 pm in room 604 where Mrs. Buchanan advises this club. Band Council is designed to organize and plan band events and fundraisers. Band Council meets Tuesdays after school in room 820 with Ms. Webster. The Community Inclusion Program plans activities for youth of all abilities along with fun friendship events. CIP meets the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month in room W-8 with Mrs. Rickard and Mrs. Christiansen.

DECA  prepares emerging leaders for careers in marketing, finance, management, etc. DECA meets Wednesdays after school in room 501 with Mr. Robles. Drama/Theater Club allows you to be trained in audio/visual and other theatrical technical opportunities, it also contributes to the performances at PHS. Drama Club meets Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 in the Auditorium with Mr. Bullock. There are so many more clubs and extracurricular activities that are available to you!

These are just a few of the options that are available to you at Peninsula High School. If you’d like to know more about each club, I would suggest visiting the PHS website and looking more into the ones that seem to fit your personal interests!
