Spring Sports Overview

The 2017-2018 spring sport season concluded with many sports (baseball, softball, tennis, boys and girls track and soccer) having a very successful season! Peninsula had many of its student athletes named to all league teams.

 

Baseball

Peninsula Varsity baseball started off the season strong. Lead by junior pitcher Joe Pierce, and strong hitting performances by senior Cooper Sims, and sophomores Peter King and Reid Sturn, Peninsula briefly claimed first place however, after dropping several games to end the season they unfortunately missed playoffs. But with a young roster hopes are high for next year and the years to come.

All League Honorable Mentions: Reid Sturn, Cooper Sims

 

Boys Golf

Peninsula’s boy golf team while finishing 3rd in league sent two guys to state this spring season, Preston Bebich and Austin Esser, Peninsula also sent 4 guys to districts, those being again Preston Bebich, Austin Esser and Austin Guiberson and Matthew Mehlert. Peninsula also topped off a solid season with winning the annual Higgins Invitational.

 

Girls Golf

Peninsula girls golf had a very successful season that ended with the girls placing 4th in state as a team.  Riley Bass tied for 12th shooting a 162, Makena Mehlert tied for 19th shooting a 167, Kailey Bass tied for 21st shooting a 171. The team had a strong season with a very strong finish.

 

Boys Soccer

The boys soccer concluded there season with an 8-4-3 record and finishing towards the top of the South Sound District. The team had an impressive season and is looking forward to the next upcoming season. Although the team is losing a lot of seniors they still have a whole lot of young talent and they look to keep building and excelling for the future season.

All League Honorable Mention: Evan Dayto, Ben Patterson, Grayson Janson, Kel Sonnen, & Cameron Watkins,

 

Boys and Girls Track

Boys and girls track and field had an unforgettable spring season with many top performers going to districts and state. The team had an incredibly successful season and are looking forward to the upcoming season with many runners returning.  

 

Softball

Softball had a fantastic season finishing third in league with a league record of 9-5. The Seahawks dominated on the field and even though they didn’t make it all the way to state they made an incredible comeback in the state qualifying tournament against mountain view winning 16-15.

Girls Tennis

The girls tennis season was a solid one. The girls competed and sent a few girls to the state tournament. It was a very successful season and coaching staff and returning players are excited for the future.
