The Peninsula girls’ varsity volleyball team won its final match of the year against Lakes last Wednesday. It had been a challenging season for the team, and they had yet to win a game. Regardless, it was senior night in the home gym with a full and cheering student section, and the girls were determined to pull out a win.

The first game of the match started out strong with a win of 25-19 over the Lady Lancers, and in the second game, the home team won again 20-25. The final game was very tight; both teams were tied at 25 points. The Lady Seahawks took away the win by coming back with 2 points, ending the score at 27- 25.

Excellent plays were made by all the seniors of the team: Maddy Martinez, Lauren Dahl, Ashly Whittington, Mackenzie Anderton, Lexi Smith, and McKayla Thoennes.

Although the 2015 team ended with a 13-1 record, the season concluded on a positive note and a victory for the senior girls. The varsity squad’s six juniors and sophomores are looking forward to next year.
