Social Media Pros and Cons

Social media comes with many pros such as keeping connected with family and friends, also helps staying updated with things like news and weather. Though there are some pros there are also some cons such as not interacting face to face with people, also being more prone to ADHD, also the threat of predators. So yes there are some pro but also some cons.

PROS: Social media has become a part of our everyday lives. People use it to stay in touch with friends and family. It helps you keep updated. Social media can also help you learn new things. So social media can be helpful in multiple ways.

When you think of social media, you may think of posting a photo. Well, posting is a great way to keep family and friends updated. You can know what your friends are up to along with family members. If you have friends or family that live far away, this is an especially great way to keep up. Almost every social media app site has a feature where you can text back and forth with someone, which is another good way to talk and keep in touch.

News sites usually have accounts on social media. They will usually post about how the weather is. That could be very helpful if you use social media often. You could look at their account and see the weather for the day.

Along with news networks, informational sites sometimes have accounts like Animal Planet. These informational sites can post new information or facts you may not have heard before so you can learn something new. In social media, there are lots of benefits, like keeping in touch and learning new things. So social media can be helpful.

CONS: While using social media, we don’t interact with others face-to-face as much. Although social media has benefits, it can take us away from our immediate family (family at home), which can create conflict between the family.

Social media also has predators. Predators are people who may target kids and teens for multiple reasons, like faking a relationship and acting like they are younger to get more information about you so they can take advantage of you. Some people think that social media is a waste of time and kids brains and behavior making them more prone to ADHD. Spending too much time on social media can contribute to social isolation. When scrolling through Tik Tok or other things related to it, you get about 10 seconds of happiness, and then it goes away, and then it repeats that can also trigger your flight or fight response by tricking it to think you are in danger. That can mess that up, and cause you to have a faulty flight or flight response. Social media will also give a false idea of friendship, meaning people will act like they are your friends, but they aren’t.
